What is CDL Training?

A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a state-issued credential required to operate large commercial vehicles — including semi-trucks, tankers, and specialized freight haulers. CDL training covers the knowledge and hands-on driving skills you need to pass the Iowa DOT CDL exam and meet federal Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements.

Iowa Valley BCS offers Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for Class A CDL — tractor-trailers, semi-trucks, combination vehicles.

Why CDL Training at Iowa Valley BCS?

  • Local training, local hiring connections: Central Iowa employers are actively hiring CDL drivers. Iowa Valley BCS works with local and regional businesses to connect graduates with job opportunities.
  • ELDT-compliant curriculum: Our training program meets all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) training requirements and prepares you for the CDL skills test, including the vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and road test components.
  • Start dates every 4 weeks: No long wait to begin training.
