Iowa Valley Community College District is a public institution governed by a locally elected Board of Directors. Seven directors represent communities across the District’s service area, each elected from a director district by the voters of that district.
The Board establishes institutional policy, provides oversight of academic and financial priorities, and helps guide the District’s strategic direction—ensuring Iowa Valley continues to meet the needs of its students, employees, and communities.
Board Members
Joanna Hofer
Director District VI — Board President. Has served on the Board since 2017. Retired
school finance officer. Resides in Tama.
Amber Danielson
Director District III — Board Vice President. Has served on the Board since 2023.
Executive Director of the Arts + Culture Alliance. Resides in Marshalltown.
Chris Brodin
Director District V. Has served on the Board since 2015. Broker/owner of Premier Real
Estate. Resides in Marshalltown.
Larry Johnson
Director District I. Has served on the Board since 1986. Attorney in private practice.
Resides in Iowa Falls.
Clark Lawler
Director District II. Has served on the Board since 2019. Retired accountant. Resides
in Eldora.
Jackie Pippin
Director District IV. Has served on the Board since 2025. Lead program manager for
the City of Marshalltown. Resides in Marshalltown.
Paul Pohlson
Director District VII. Has served on the Board since 2006. Owner of an insurance company.
Resides in Grinnell.
