We invite all students to experience the vibrant and supportive community of our residence halls. Our modern facility are conveniently located less than a three-minute walk from the main campus building, making it incredibly easy to get to your classes and campus activities.

Living in our residence halls offers countless opportunities to connect with fellow students and our dedicated staff. We provide a safe and inviting on-campus living experience, supported by four "live-on" staff members and eight Resident Assistants (RAs) who are there to assist with any needs.

Three Easy Steps to Apply for Housing

  1. APPLY for and be accepted for admission to MCC.
  2. Request your student ID and password by emailing Angie.Redmond@iavalley.edu.
  3. Use your student ID and password to complete the Housing Application.

Please note: A $120 housing application fee is required. You will be notified via email if your housing application is unsuccessful. For more details on housing costs, please refer to our Housing Costs.

Welcome to your vibrant community at Marshalltown Community College! We offer comfortable, convenient apartment-style living right on campus, keeping you close to classes and campus life. Our three modern Residential Complexes are designed for connection, academic support, and making your college experience unforgettable.

Each complex is apartment style, with most housing four residents. You'll find dedicated study areas and common spaces for connecting with neighbors and unwinding.

Our dedicated Residence Life team is here to support you. Trained Resident Assistants (RAs) and professional Residence Coordinators provide mentorship, organize engaging events, and build community. Plus, for your peace of mind, an evening emergency response is always available. We love your ideas! Email suggestions for events to mccreslife@iavalley.edu.

Get ready for comfort! Each apartment includes "A" and "B" rooms that share a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. You'll also have a private bathroom in your bedroom.

Each resident's bedroom comes furnished with:

  • A twin bed
  • Chest
  • Computer desk/chair
  • Closet

The shared living room includes:

  • A three-seat sofa
  • Coffee table

Your kitchen area has:

  • A full-size refrigerator and stove
  • Plenty of cupboard space
  • (Microwaves standard in East Complex; outlet available in North/South Complexes for your own.)

Renewing Your Housing Contract

If you currently live in our residence halls and wish to continue for the upcoming academic year, you'll have the opportunity to renew your housing contract during the summer. Information on this process will be provided to all current residential students. Current residents who do not participate in the Housing Renewal Days will need to re-apply online along with new residents.

Campus Dining at MCC

At MCC, we know that good food is essential for a great college experience! Great Western Dining is our on-campus food service provider, offering delicious and convenient meal options right in our Student Union. We accept credit and debit cards for easy payment.

Our cafeteria offers flexible dining hours to fit your schedule:

Monday - Friday:

  • Breakfast: 7:30 - 8:30 am
    • Continental Breakfast: 8:30 - 9:30 am
    • Lunch: 11 am - 12:30 pm
    • Dinner: 5:30 - 6:30 pm (Friday Dinner: 5:30 - 6:15 pm)
  • Saturday:
    • Brunch: 11:45 am - 12:30 pm
    • Dinner: 5 - 5:45 pm
  • Sunday:
    • Dinner: 5 - 5:45 pm

We offer a variety of dining plans designed for residential students, commuters, faculty, and staff, providing flexibility and value.

Meal Plan Options

  • 18-Meal Residential Plan ($1,375/semester): This plan offers unlimited servings during open hours and is perfect for residential students, though non-residential students can also purchase it.
    • Pre- and Post-Semester rate for two meals: $15.64 per day
    • Pre- and Post-Semester rate for three meals: $18.97 per day
  • Commuter Student Plan ($528 per semester): This plan includes 5 meals per week, offering a discounted rate for commuters, faculty, and staff.
  • 10-Meal Punch Card ($72.64 plus tax): A convenient option for students and non-students, valid for any meal when Food Service is open.
  • Guest Meal Rates: Guests are always welcome to join us for a meal! Prices below are plus tax.
    • Breakfast: $6.15
    • Lunch: $7.85
    • Dinner: $9.15
    • Special Meals: $10.00

  • Enjoy "all you care to eat" servings with your meal plan!
  • Meals are conveniently loaded onto your student ID card.
  • Unused meals cannot be carried over to the following weeks.
  • Meal plans can be charged to your financial aid if available.
  • Please note that dining memberships and prices are subject to change.

Disability Housing Requests & Assistance Animals

If you have a disability or condition that requires special consideration for your housing assignment, we are here to support you. Students requesting disability housing accommodations MUST register with Disability Services before any housing accommodations can be provided. You will need to:

  • Complete a housing application and submit the $120 application fee.
  • Additionally, complete any required paperwork and/or procedures for requesting special accommodations.
  • This includes requests for assistance animals in campus housing.
