MARSHALLTOWN – Marshalltown Community College continues to expand its outdoor art collection with the installation of two new student-designed metal sculptures. The college recently celebrated the installation of a pond gate titled Abundance by art student Elliot Renaud, along with a steel column piece titled It's Why You're Here by art student KPaw Law Moo located on the campus lawn outside of the library.
Adding to the scenic display by the campus pond, Renaud’s work features two metal panels installed near the water, creating a cohesive visual experience that connects artistry with the natural campus landscape.
This project is the result of an extensive interdisciplinary collaboration between the MCC Art Department, Machine Tool Technology, Welding, and Construction Technology. The successful placement of these works was further supported by the Buildings & Grounds team and administrative leadership.
This effort continues a tradition of campus beautification that began last spring with the debut of two- and three-paneled metal pieces, reinforcing the college’s commitment to showcasing student talent through durable, industrial mediums. The expansion of the college’s outdoor gallery is expected to continue shortly with the installation of another metal piece—recently featured at the MCC Trades exhibit—in the courtyard behind the old greenhouse.
By blending the creative concepts of the Art Department with the precision of the Trades programs, MCC continues to create a unique and inspiring environment for students and the community alike.
