IVCCD Board Report – November 10
IVCCD Board Learns About Academic Engagement
IOWA FALLS – Ellsworth Community College Director of Student Success, Tracy Crippin-Haake, provided an update on the early alert systems Ellsworth Community College and Marshalltown Community College use to improve student retention through timely intervention. Academic advisors and coaches receive weekly reports of students who are struggling, and those students are contacted to determine what assistance is needed to be successful. Ms. Crippin-Haake noted,” the first three weeks of the semester are the most critical, and we do not want any of our students to fall through the cracks.” Faculty have shared that the system is a game-changer and provides the opportunity to get to know the students and provide their services.
