IVCCD Board Learns of Jobs Training Opportunity with Lennox
MARSHALLTOWN – During the monthly Iowa Valley Community College District Board meeting, Board members approved a 260F training agreement with Lennox Industries, Inc. This is the seventh training agreement between Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions and Lennox, and will focus on Tool and Die (Hurco) Training in the MCC classroom/lab, Customized Weld Repair training on site at the Lennox Plant, Safety training (Fall protection, CPR/First Aid, HotWork) and Braze training. This training will supplement the Lennox apprenticeship program.
The 260F grant is the Iowa Jobs Training program that helps Iowa businesses train and upskill current employees. The program fosters the growth and competitiveness of Iowa businesses by ensuring that Iowa’s workforce has the skills and expertise needed to compete worldwide. Training programs are customized to meet the specific productivity needs of each business. $4.75 million is available annually statewide and matched by participating businesses.
Board Approved ECC Roof Replacement Project
The Board approved the bid for the Equine Arena roof construction project. A metal roof overlay for the existing equine roof is the most cost-effective approach, according to OPN Architects. This project is slated for summer and will be timed so it does not interfere with planned shows. The winning bid was awarded to T&K Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. of Ely, Iowa for an estimated $1,530,000.
Board Approves Agreement with DataVizion
The Board approved a plan with DataVizion for the purchase of Aruba networking equipment and related software and services. The equipment will replace the District’s end-of-life network equipment used to connect the internal network to the public internet. The scope of work consists of switches, gateways, licensing, and five years of support and required subscriptions. Professional services for design, configuration, installation, and training are also included.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 12, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in Grinnell and will be available via Zoom.
