IVCCD Board Report – January 2025

The Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors received an update on the successful launch of its healthcare apprenticeship program during its January 8 meeting.

Funded by a $451,878 grant from Iowa Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship 2.0, the program offers students the opportunity to earn while they learn through apprenticeships in nursing, phlebotomy, and medical assisting. High demand has resulted in a waitlist of 15-20 students, demonstrating a strong need for skilled healthcare workers in rural Central Iowa.

Partnerships with healthcare providers like UnityPoint, McFarland Clinic, and Hansen Family Hospital have expanded to include Scenic Living Communities, Oakview Nursing Home and Mayflower Community. This week, McFarland Clinic will begin a pilot program with four or five medical assistants.

Other Board Actions:
• Campus Signage: The Board approved a $125,683 contract with Latitude Signage + Design for an exterior wayfinding sign update at Marshalltown Community College, including a new illuminated monument sign.
• Audit Review: The Board reviewed the annual audit report prepared by TrustPoint, LLC, with Nick Stanley from TrustPoint available to answer questions. The audit had no findings and was presented as a clean report.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on February 12, 2025 in Marshalltown, and will be available via Zoom.
