IVCCD Elects Leadership
MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District swore in the Board members elected at the November 2, 2021 City/School Election. Re-elected to serve 4 year terms were Directors Deborah Jones representing Director District #4 and Joanna Hofer representing Director District #6. The Board also welcomed new Board. Director Jackie Pippin who replaced Delbert Kellogg to represent Director District #3 for a four year term. Director Larry Johnson was unanimously reelected to serve as Board President. Director Paul Pohlson will continue to serve as Vice President of the Board. Barb Jennings will continue as Board Secretary, and Gena Garber will serve as Board Treasurer.
Board Approves Early Retirement
The Board approved applications for early retirement for PJ Colbert and Sally Wilson. PJ Colbert is a member of the English faculty at Marshalltown Community College, and has been with Iowa Valley for 37 years. Sally Wilson is a Biology faculty member at MCC and has been with Iowa Valley for 17 years.
Board Extends Orpheum Lease
The Board approved an extension of the lease agreement with the Marshall County Courts and the Orpheum Theater. The lease extension grants access through May 2022. The District will be removing furniture progressively throughout the coming months with plans of repurposing on campus.
In other matters, the Board approved an agreement with Winsor Consulting to conduct a cybersecurity risk assessment and approved a 260F Iowa Jobs Training Program agreement with H.D. Hudson Manufacturing Company of Eldora, Iowa for leadership training of their employees.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for January 12, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
