IVCCD Board Report – December 2024
The Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors elected new leadership during its organizational meeting on December 11. Director Joanna Hofer, of Toledo, was elected and sworn in as President of the Board, succeeding Director Larry Johnson, of Iowa Falls, who has been elected Board President multiple times during his 37-year tenure on the board. Hofer previously served as Vice President and has served for six years as Iowa Valley’s representative on the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees Board.
Amber Danielson, of Marshalltown, was elected as Vice President after serving one year on the board. Abigail Casey will continue serving as Board Secretary and Gena Garber will continue to serve as Board Treasurer; both positions are sworn in annually.
The Board also approved a bid opening for the science lab construction project on the Marshalltown Community College (MCC) campus. The bid opening is scheduled for January 28, 2025, and the bid approval is scheduled for February 12. The Board also approved a contract with Shive Hattery for $25,000 for architectural and engineering support for the construction of the utility technology building on the MCC campus.
The Board also approved two jobs training agreements through Business and Community Solutions (BCS). The first is a 260F training agreement with AgCulture Marketing in Rhodes, Iowa. They plan to use the funding for training in marketing, graphic design, leadership, and strategic planning. The second training agreement is with Alliant Energy for CPR/First Aid training, Wind Training, as well as additional safety training.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on January 8, 2025 in Marshalltown, and will be available via Zoom.
