IVCCD Board Approves Work on Welding Lab at Ellsworth
IOWA FALLS – The IVCCD Board of Directors approved a contract with OPN Architects to work on the Ellsworth Community College welding project. The welding lab will be located in the Trades and Industry building, on the corner of River Street and Elm Street, across from Thompson Hall. The goal is to offer welding programs, beginning in the fall of 2023-24.
Board Approved Upgrades to A/V System in Dejardin Hall, Esports Equipment
The Board approved updates to the audio/visual equipment in Dejardin Hall, part of the Conference Center in the Marshalltown location. The current equipment has been in operation for 12 years and is nearing end-of-life. The updates will remove the analog system and convert to digital, making it easier to connect with current technology.
The Board also approved equipment system upgrades to the Esports Arena at Marshalltown Community College. The upgrade will allow for the streaming and shoutcasting (commentating) of game play. The update will allow MCC to livestream up to 10 gaming PCs and up to 6 gaming consoles.
The District will work with local technology partner, Mechdyne Corporation, for the upgrades to both systems.
Board Approved Concurrent Enrollment Agreements
The Board approved concurrent enrollment agreements with area school districts to provide academic courses in the upcoming school year. Students will have the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school. The classes will be offered at the following districts: AGWSR Community School District, BCLUW Community School District, BGM Community School District, East Marshall Community School District, GMG Community School District, Grinnell-Newburg Community School District, Iowa Falls Community School District, Marshalltown Community School District, Montezuma Community School District, South Hardin Community School District, South Tama Community School District, and West Marshall Community School District.
Board Approves Jobs Training Agreements
The Board approved 260F jobs training agreements between Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions and Hawkins Electrical Service for $9740; and Fremont Farms of Iowa for $22,500. In Iowa, 260F grants are funds designated to help employers upskill their existing workforce.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. and will be available via Zoom.
