Board to Launch the Search for Next IVCCD President
Dr. Kristie Fisher Named Next President of Kirkwood Community College
Iowa Valley Community College District’s President Dr. Kristie Fisher was announced as the next President of Kirkwood Community College, based in Cedar Rapids, during a ceremony on May 4, 2023. Dr. Fisher has led the District since July 2019.
“While I am excited to return to my alma mater as president, I will miss Iowa Valley deeply, said Dr. Fisher. “We have accomplished so much in four years including a $32 million bond referendum that has transformed our campuses, improved the student experience, and positioned us to better serve our communities. We have also turned the enrollment tide with growing enrollment this academic year. And we have developed new programs to serve students and our local employers. I am proud of our work.”
At their meeting on May 10, the IVCCD Board of Directors will be approving a contract with Consultant Dr. Larry Ebbers to conduct the search for the District’s next President. The first step in the search process will be to develop a profile for the next president, and the Board has developed a survey to provide opportunities for community members, employees, and students to provide input on the characteristics of its next president. Survey participants will be asked to respond to two questions: 1) What personal and professional characteristics should the new IVCCD President possess? And 2) What should be the primary focus areas of the new President for moving the District forward?
