IVCCD Board Report – April 2025

During its recent meeting, the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors took action on several key initiatives, including advancing plans for construction projects at the Grinnell and Ellsworth campuses.

The Board approved the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost for the IVCCD Grinnell Campus Auto Tech Construction Project located at 123 6th Avenue West, Grinnell. The bid opening is scheduled for May 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the IVCCD Administration Building Board Room in Marshalltown, with bid approval set for May 14 at 4 p.m. at the IVCCD Business & Community Solutions office in Marshalltown.

Similarly, the Board approved the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost for the IVCCD Ellsworth Wall Hall Demo Construction Project at 1100 College Avenue, Iowa Falls. The bid opening will take place on May 8, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Ellsworth Community College Gentle Student Center Board Room, with bid approval also scheduled for May 14 at 4 p.m. at the IVCCD Business & Community Solutions office in Marshalltown.

In other business, the Board approved an Accelerated Career Education (ACE) Program Agreement with Alliant Energy to support the expansion of the Natural Gas Technician program. This agreement could provide IVCCD with up to $29,120 annually for five years to enhance workforce training in this high-demand field.

The Board also approved technology upgrades, including:

  • A $39,316.23 proposal from Light This Productions to repair the Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Student Activity Center sound system. This project will replace outdated and malfunctioning equipment, ensuring optimal audio performance for events. Funding will come from the equipment levy and OEPI dollars.
  • A $72,374.64 quote from Datavizion to purchase a Nutanix storage solution. This new system will replace the District’s aging storage and increase capacity for the Marketing department and Broadcasting/Digital Media program. The purchase will be funded through IT bond dollars.

Furthermore, the Board approved a master agreement for concurrent enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year with the following area school districts: AGWSR, BCLUW, BGM, East Marshall, GMG, Grinnell-Newburg, Iowa Falls-Alden, Marshalltown, Montezuma, Eldora-New Providence, South Tama, West Marshall, Choice Charter, Meskwaki Settlement School, and HLV Community School.

Finally, the Board approved the extension of a lease agreement with the Marshalltown Girls Softball Association for the 2025-2026 season, allowing them to continue using the softball fields and support facilities at Marshalltown Community College.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on May 14, 2025, in Marshalltown, and will be accessible via Zoom. The community is welcome to attend.
