IVCCD Board Approves Jobs Training Program
During the monthly Board meeting, the Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors approved a jobs training agreement with Plastic Recycling of Iowa Falls. The agreement is part of the 260F Iowa Jobs Training program and will cover leadership training for supervisors. Plastic Recycling of Iowa Falls has 80 employees. Formerly known as Hammer’s Plastic Recycling until 1998, Plastic Recycling of Iowa Falls began processing mixed plastic and manufacturing products from commingled material in 1986. With this process, Plastic Recycling can help keep millions of pounds of plastic out of the landfill each year. Its automated production lines are used to manufacture car stops, speed bumps, landscape timbers, protection posts, park benches, picnic tables, and other large-profile products.
The 260F program helps Iowa businesses train and upskill current employees. The program fosters the growth and competitiveness of Iowa businesses by ensuring that Iowa’s workforce has the skills and expertise needed to compete worldwide. Training programs are customized to meet the specific productivity needs of each business. Statewide, $4.75 million is available annually and matched by participating businesses.
Board Approved Calendars
The Board approved the academic and holiday calendar for the 2024-25 year. The Board also approved the FY25 Board of Directors Meeting Calendar.
Board Approved Supplier Agreement between Ellsworth and Game One, adidas
The Board approved an agreement between Ellsworth Community College and Game One to purchase uniforms, apparel, and footwear, along with any other branded products offered by Game One. ECC Athletics will receive product rebates, promotional products, and reward dollars. The Board also approved a contract with adidas, an extension of an existing relationship as ECC has been an adidas school for many years.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 6, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Iowa Valley Community College District Board Room and will be available via Zoom.
